SomerCrepe Krafts

These are more commonly known as creped papers. These can be bitumen laminated, wax laminated, waxed, VCI treated or standard. The standard grades come 3 forms. It is commonly used in the wire and steel strip industry for protective wrapping for transit.

The ordinary crepe grades are also used in the metal furniture business in hand coils of 80mm x 80mm outside diameter. They can be supplied in sheeted, rolled or coil form ranging from 40mm up to 1000mm wide.

SCS96 Grade (60/96gsm Crepe Kraft)
SCS130 Grade (90/130gsm Crepe Kraft)
SCPE150 Grade (90/120+30gsm PE Coated Crepe)

The waxed variety comes in normal or heavy weight. It is used for its oil resisting properties in the shipment of steel strip. It can be supplied in sheet or coil form up to a maximum width of 1000mm and a minimum of 75mm.

There is also VCI Treated form. It is used for rust protection with slight cushioning for wrapping steel items. It can be supplied in coil form from 60mm to 1000mm. It can also be supplied in sheeted form as an interleave for between sheets of steel.

Laminated form of SomerCrepe can be supplied in 3 grades. These grades are used for protective wrapping of wire coils and also in the steel strip industry. These can be supplied to a maximum outside diameter of 500mm and widths going from 75mm to 1000mm.

SCWLR 225 grade (1 Way RF Crepe Union)
SCVWL 235 grade (VCI Treated Crepe Union)
SCWL 225 grade (Crepe Union)

This is our Paper Lined Hessian product. It is generally used in the export packing of steel related trades like the wire industry It is also used as a base material for making sacks for animal feed and grain. It is a layer of Hessian laminated by bitumen to a 70gsm MG Kraft.

The Hessian is also available in form that is not paper lined. This can be supplied in hand coil form or full width rolls.

Both forms are available in hand coils, or paper lined in 50m, 100m, 200m or 300m rolls.

Available widths are 915mm, 1020mm and 1370mm.

This one of the oldest produced products at Somerville & Morrison Ltd and we are proud to say that we are one of only a handful of companies around the world that can still actually produce the paper lined form starting from bales of hessian.

SomerTec Krafts

More commonly known as anti corrosion papers or VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) or VPI (Vapour Phase Inhibitor) papers. These are printed with the company’s dragon logo or with the logo that you require up to 2 colours depending on quantities required.

They are generally supplied to the automotive industry unprinted. The papers are also used in a variety of markets and can be used to protect steel, copper/brass, tin plate, aluminium, nickel and cast iron. It is used to inhibit corrosion of afore mentioned metals during transportation and storage.

Commonly used in the aeronautic and automotive industries as well as steel related industries like wire and tubes. The grammage of the paper is dependant on the application it is used for.

These can be supplied in coil or roll form going from 75mm to 1500mm. The rolls are generally supplied in 200m rolls or can be supplied in meterages up to a maximum roll size of 1000mm outside diameter. They can also be supplied in sheeted form to required sizes.

This is our steel wrapping product. It is a polythene laminate which can be reinforced for a more robust product. It can be supplied on white or brown paper and can also be printed if required up to a width of 1500mm in two colours. It can be supplied in 3 colours of polythene: clear, blue and silver.

It is generally used as a wrapper in the steel industry for large reels of metal strip for transport and storage. The VCI treated form is mainly used for storage of the metal coils and other steel related areas.

The blue form is closely linked to the aeronautic sector of the steel industry where as the silver form is closely linked with steel for the automotive trade. The white paper is mainly used for the use of customers own print designs for the wrapper so that it can be seen through the clear for identification and advertising purposes.

Available polythene sizes for the different colours are: blue (1000mm only), silver (1200mm & 1500mm) or clear (1000mm, 1250mm, 1400mm, 1500mm). It is generally supplied in 100m but rolls can be made to order.

This is our paper lined woven polypropylene. It can be supplied in a variety of colours like blue, white, black or beige. The standard colours keep on site are blue and white.

This material is generally used in the wire and steel industries for a robust export packing material. The VCI treated material provides anti rusting properties for items going by sea. The PE coated grade is made into bags for exporting of steel tubes.

It is generally supplied in 100m rolls for full widths of which these are 1000mm, 1200mm 1370mm and 1500mm.Can be supplied in coil form from a minimum width of 75mm and can go to a maximum outside diameter of 500mm.

It can also be supplied without the paper lining. This can be made available in a variety of colours dependant on quantity ie. beige, black or white, but the stock colour is blue. Coils can range from 75mm up to 1500mm. Larger sizes are available dependant on quantity and colour.
